It will produce up to 10 thousand products per year, the launch is scheduled for early next year
State Corporation «Rosatom» and the Kaliningrad automobile concern «Avtotor» they plan to launch assembly production of batteries for electric vehicles in Kaliningrad right at the site of the automobile plant. According to the companies, this will happen for the first time in Russia. The corresponding agreement was signed at the international forum «AtomExpo-2024», which is currently taking place in Sochi.
The area of the new production will be 1.5 thousand square meters. m, it will include areas for electrical installation work, assembly and testing. There, the assembly and installation of electrical components, blocks and battery control boards will be carried out, as well as the assembly of energy storage devices based on lithium-ion battery modules. It is also possible to conduct a full cycle of electrical and climatic acceptance tests of batteries at charging and discharging stations and climate control equipment.
The production capacity will reach 10 thousand units of products per year with the possibility of further development, as reported by Rosatom. Commissioning of the new production site is planned tentatively at the beginning of 2025. According to the Chairman of the Development Committee of «Avtotor Holding» Alexandra Sorokin, the company is creating a unique production complex for the production of electric vehicles and critical components; «Avtotor» is aimed at producing a universal component base, focused not only on its needs, but also on the needs of the industry as a whole.
