In a multi-threaded test, but in a single-threaded test it is also noticeably faster
The Asus A14 TUF Gaming laptop powered by the latest 12-core AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (Strix Point) processor was revealed at Computex 2024. Interestingly, the device is not even built on a serial CPU, but on an engineering sample identified as 100-0000009934-37. However, the CPU performance was tested in CPU-Z, and it produced an impressive result (for AMD in this benchmark): 798.6 points in the single-threaded test and 8893.6 points in the multi-threaded test.
For comparison, the Ryzen 9 7940HS at 54 W (as part of the Minisforum UM790 mini-PC) produces 707.3 points in the single-threaded test and 7089.9 points in the multi-threaded test. The difference is decent — 12.9 and 25 percent respectively. But the laptop does not use a serial CPU, the performance of which should be even higher. And although the top Intel processors of the 13th and 14th generations easily beat the results of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, for AMD itself the progress is obvious.
The first laptops with Strix Point processors will go on sale next month, then it will be clear whether the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has demonstrated all its power now, or whether it will be even faster in the production version.
