Sales of this car will start in 2024
Today, the Oting Paladin SUV was officially presented in Russia; Sinomach Automobile is launching its sales in the country. But this model will not be the only one in the Russian Oting range: as Autonews reports, next year three more models from the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture will appear in Russia.
This will be a pickup truck based on the Oting Paladin, a plug-in version of it (apparently we are talking about an electric car) and a full-size SUV. At the same time, two of the three models were shown in Russia today; the corresponding photos were published by the No Limits Telegram channel.
The photo above shows a pickup based on the Oting Paladin. More precisely, two different settings were installed on the chassis version: a relatively small tank and a motorhome. But in its simplest form it will be a pickup truck. As you can judge from the photo, the car will have a fairly strong frame – after all, the weight of the filled tank is decent.
But the second model is a “Chinese Nissan Navara” called Dongfeng Palaso. The car in China is produced by the joint venture Dongfeng Nissan, so it is not surprising that the components and assemblies are borrowed from the famous pickup truck. And first of all, this, again, concerns the frame.
The Dongfeng Palaso is that full-size SUV, as the length of the model is an impressive 5252 mm and the wheelbase is 3150 mm. True, with such a long length, there is no more space in the back than in the same Navara. The whole point is how the Palaso was turned from a pickup truck into an SUV: the creators did not redesign the body and redo the interior, but simply took it and extended the roof over the cargo compartment. That’s why Palaso looks disproportionate with the overhang of the roof on top.
In terms of technology, the Palaso has everything the same as the Paladin: a 2.0-liter 228-horsepower engine, an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with locks.
Naturally, there are no prices yet, but it is extremely unlikely that the Dongfeng Palaso (in Russia the model will most likely be called Oting Palaso) will be cheaper than the Oting Paladin.
