310 km/h on public roads. The ultimate “evil” Audi unveiled

The modification was carried out by ABT Sportsline

ABT Sportsline has unveiled its latest and most complex project, the XGT, based on the Audi R8 GT2. This is a racing car that can be driven on public roads.

ABT XGT sends power from the V10 engines exclusively to the rear wheels. The 5.2 FSI engine produces 630 hp, while the original Audi model produces 612 hp. Removing the Quattro and making extensive use of carbon fiber has kept weight down to 1,400kg. This is 170 kg less than the Audi R8 GT2.

The XGT took two years to develop after several months of waiting for the project to be approved by management. As many as 40 people had to individually give the green light to this project. The manufacturer claims that this is not a supercar modified to look like a race car, but an actual race car with a license plate. It is “only slightly different from the Audi R8 LMS GT2” and each car will be unique, allowing owners to fully customize it.

The interior features a full roll cage and the same steering wheel as the real GT2 race car. Since the goal was to make it roadworthy, ABT added central locking, a reversing camera and a handbrake, and installed a conventional digital instrument cluster. For the same reason, the modified control panel now contains controls for air conditioning, turn signals and electrically adjustable mirrors.

In addition, changes were made to the temperature control system, software, braking and refueling systems. A different exhaust system has been installed that meets the required emission standards. Additional changes have been made to comply with noise levels. The maximum speed is 310 km/h.
