It's slower than Tensor G3 on Pixel 8 Pro
Pixel 8a is based on the same Tensor G3 platform as the older models in the line. But tests show that the younger model is still a little weaker. However, not always.
In Geekbench in multi-threaded mode, the Pixel 8a lags behind older models by 5-9%. Uncritical, but noticeable. In single-threaded mode, this is exactly the level of Pixel 8. In PCMark Work, the situation is strange, since here the Pixel 7a is ahead of the Pixel 8a and Pixel 8, but apparently these are features of the benchmark.
In the 3DMark Wild Life graphics test in stress test mode, it is clearly visible that the Pixel 8a starts at exactly the same level as the older models, during the entire test it is noticeably inferior to the Pixel 8 Pro, but at the same time At some point, the younger Pixel outperforms, and even with the older one the gap decreases. This suggests that GPU throttling is more pronounced in older models.
That is, in general, Pixel 8a is slightly weaker than older models, but this was also the case with previous Pixel a. The difference is small, and sometimes the new product is even slightly better than at least the basic Pixel 8.
