Valve has released the Proton 9.0 update, which improves performance with NVIDIA graphics cards and multi-core processors

Valve continues to improve Proton software, allowing you to enjoy a variety of games on the Linux platform (and Steam Deck)

Valve recently introduced the Proton 9.0 update. We talked about the available games, as well as improvements.

For example, NVAPI (NVIDIA API) is now enabled by default for most games – it is expected that this will have a positive impact on game performance on Linux for users of the company's video cards.

Proton will be able to run some old games that previously did not work well on multi-core processors; such projects include:

  • Far Cry 2
  • Far Cry 4
  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution
  • Outcast – Second Contact
  • Prototype
