Ubisoft “killed” The Crew and fans are preparing for a grand trial to save the game service and punish the publishers

The story of The Crew has come to an end, but some fans decided to fight the politics of Ubisoft and other companies

March 31, 2024 Ubisoft has shut down The Crew servers. The racing game-service started in 2014, subsequently the franchise grew and The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest appeared on the market.

The original The Crew was removed from sale. Since this is a service game, when the servers are turned off, it “dies,” as Ubisoft itself writes on the game’s page on Steam:

“All editions of The Crew, as well as additional content no longer available for purchase. The game will be available to all The Crew owners until March 31, 2024. The game servers will then be shut down and the game will no longer be available.”

The blogger Accursed Farms, who became famous for his Half-Life content, decided to fight back against Ubisoft, and at the same time other publishers (or at least draw attention to the problem of game services). There are plans to file a class action lawsuit because The Crew has “turned into a pumpkin” (no longer in business).

Accursed Farms recently spoke with The Crew owners who were purchasing the game and the additional content. He collected purchase data, which he plans to then submit to a consumer protection agency. Judging by his recent post, he will share details about the progress of the case on April 2.
