UAZ has already briefly talked about the innovations recently introduced into the suspension of its SUVs «Patriot», «Pickup» and «Pro» flagship SUV «Patriot», but now the plant has described the changes in detail — and there are many of them.
As part of the modernized front axle of the UAZ «Patriot» open type steering knuckles appeared. Due to this, the turning radius of the large SUV has noticeably decreased (to 0.8 meters). Engineers say that this not only improves maneuvering – open knuckle design is easier to maintain.
UAZ SUVs received new housings and cups for axle shaft housings, as well as CV joint drive shafts. In addition, cuffs were introduced in the front axle housings near the main gear housing, and the safety valve from the left axle housing was moved to the main gear housing.
The cars now have an updated stabilizer bar, improved shock absorbers and a steering damper. Engineers have improved the tightness of the bridge's internal cavity.
This entire set of measures has been implemented in production vehicles: modified UAZs have been mass-produced since February.
