At least it shouldn’t be in the updated 1.8 EVO engine
Today AvtoVAZ presented a 122-horsepower 1.8 EVO engine, designed to work with a Chinese CVT transmission. It has many features, but one stands out in particular – lack of oil. VAZ struggled for a long, long time with this problem of the VAZ-21179 engine. Several times the company announced that the oil burner had been completely defeated, and then the plant again modified the engine. But maybe this time the Russian flagship of the automotive industry really succeeded?
To ensure that there was no trace of oil leakage in the 1.8 EVO, they introduced a three-component oil scraper ring and changed the design of the valve guide bushing, oil scraper cap and its sealing edge. Why this couldn’t be implemented earlier is unclear, but let at least the 1.8 EVO avoid the oil burn problem.
We remind you that by the end of this month AvtoVAZ will produce 25 cars with a 1.8 EVO engine and a CVT; mass production of such cars will begin in January next year.
