Rumors about the project of a completely new UAZ SUV (it was then called the «Russian Prado») circulated for several years, until UAZ officially announced that the project was closed. But now an image of a mathematical model of an SUV has appeared, and in this picture the UAZ-3170 is very similar to the current Aurus Komendant.

However, as the public page «Russian Cars» writes, based on the results of research work it turned out that the Komendant platform is not suitable for a potential mass-produced UAZ-3170: due to the large and heavy subframes and suspension, the SUV did not fit into the terms of reference for curb weight.
