The new iPhones will have a telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom. Perhaps the first will be the iPhone 17 Pro Max

There will probably be a “telephoto” with a smaller approach

The iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphone was the first in the Apple line to receive a «telephoto» based on a tetraprism with five times optical zoom. In the future, Apple may switch to a tetraprism with 10x zoom.

Apple will reportedly replace LG Innotek, which is currently supplying the tetraprism module, with ICT (a subsidiary of Luxshare) due to some conflict, the details of which are not available. At the same time, the next generation of tetraprism module will provide 10x optical zoom.

When exactly this will happen is unclear, but not next year. According to all data, in the upcoming generation of iPhone the module will remain the same, but in addition to the Pro Max model, the small Pro will also appear. Perhaps the new camera will become the highlight of the iPhone 17 line and, quite possibly, will also initially appear only on the most expensive model.

The Kr.Investing resource does not say anything about this, but it can be assumed that if Apple really provides a tetraprism «telephoto» With a 10x zoom, it implements another «telephoto» with less approximation. For example, with three times. Let us remind you that such a system is implemented in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, except for the «telephoto» there is not based on a tetraprism, but on the basis of a periscope module.
