Apple faces another fine of almost $1 billion, again for abuse of dominant position

Apple will still face a legal battle in which it could potentially pay a fine of $1 billion.

The company previously tried to have a nearly $1 billion lawsuit brought by 1,500 British developers thrown out in the UK. A British court has ruled that the lawsuit can still be filed, although the trial can begin only next year, and when it will end is generally unclear.

The lawsuit alleges that Apple charged developers unfair fees of up to 30% for purchasing apps and other content. The plaintiffs claim that Apple is abusing its dominant market position and are seeking damages. Actually, this is not the first such case from Apple in recent years. Considering the pressure from regulators on the company for such actions, it is likely that Apple will either lose or end the case ahead of schedule with some kind of peace agreement.
