The latest Core Ultra 5 125H cannot confidently beat the Core i5-13500H with the same number of cores and the same power mode

And where then is the influence of new architectures?

Intel, where is the increase from new architectures? Core Ultra 9 185H turned out to be slower than Core i9-13900H with the same number of cores

The announcement of new Intel Meteor Lake processors will take place on December 14, but today we have the opportunity to evaluate another such CPU — Core Ultra 5 125H.

This is a processor with four large and eight small cores, the SoC also has two cores, but we still do not understand their essence. This CPU operates at frequencies up to 4.5 GHz and has a TDP of 28 W. This is the junior processor among Meteor Lake-H, but in fact there is not much difference between the five known models.

Новейший Core Ultra 5 125H не может уверенно обойти Core i5-13500H при одинаковом количестве ядер и одинаковом режиме мощности

So, in processor tests, the new product performs approximately at the level of the Core i5-13500H, which has the same number of cores. Moreover, the single-threaded performance of the latter is even higher.

But in terms of iGPU, the Core Ultra 5 125H is not only about twice as fast as its brother, but also outperforms even the Ryzen 7 7840HS with its Radeon 780M. The difference is not huge, that is, you should not expect any completely new level of performance for iGPUs, but still Meteor Lake will apparently take away from Ryzen 7000 the title of carriers of the most powerful iGPU among consumer x86-bit processors. < /p>

In this test, it is very important to note power consumption. It is reported that all three CPUs allegedly worked with a power limit of 65 W. This means that Meteor Lake does not receive any advantage even in this mode, although its main TDP is lower than that of the Core i5-13500H. As we have already said, it is not yet very clear how Intel managed to create approximately the same thing that it has now, switching to both new CPU core architectures and a new technical process.
