The crew will spend about a week on the ISS
The American Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA reported on the successful arrival of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft to the ISS.
Starliner is a reusable manned transport spacecraft, which was developed by Boeing as part of the NASA program. The current mission marked the first manned flight of Starliner. It was not without complications, but in the end everything ended well.
Starliner failed 5 of its 28 attitude control engines. However, the mission team was able to restore functionality to 4 of them and the ship successfully docked with the ISS, just a little later than originally planned.
Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov wrote today in his Telegram channel:
Yesterday the Starliner docked with the ISS! During the flight, 5 attitude control engines failed. But in the end, the ship still managed to dock with the station. I congratulate all of us on this event, because this is a truly important step towards new discoveries!
Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams will spend about a week on the ISS before returning to Earth.
