The Russian online application store RuStore has added support for the new Android App Bundle (AAB) publishing format. When using it, the «weight» applications and their loading speeds up — on average by 25%. Android App Bundle allows you to upload an application to RuStore in the form of a special archive, which contains application builds for specific device parameters: screen resolution, processor, and others.
The store automatically determines the most suitable assembly and installs it on the smartphone. Thanks to this, the application will take up less memory on the device. For example, the application «VK Video» will take up about 30% less memory if developers use the AAB format when publishing it. After the launch of the new format, more than 200 such applications have already been downloaded to RuStore: «VTB», «Sberbank Online», METRO and others.
For developers who have not yet switched to AAB, the RuStore has the ability to download and publish APK files of the application, including downloading several assemblies of the application of the same version for Android OS and Harmony OS.
