Engine power is standard 204 hp, but an increase of 16 hp is possible for a short time.
Toyota announced the Hilux diesel hybrid pickup truck about two weeks ago, but there were no specifics about its powertrain at the time. Details have now emerged: it is reported that the hybrid version is 5% more economical than the regular version with a diesel engine.
The consumption of a diesel Toyota Hilux in the combined cycle is 7-7.3 liters, which means that the hybrid consumes approximately 6.65-6.95 l/100 km. This is not bad, considering that we are talking about an SUV with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission (it has 8 gears). Moreover, the 48-volt hybrid add-on provides an increase of 16 hp. for a short time (for example, at the beginning of acceleration). As for the power of the 2.8-liter engine, it remains the same – 204 hp (torque – an impressive 500 Nm).
The diesel hybrid received a start-stop system and, for the first time, a Multi-terrain Select system, which changes the settings of the stabilization system depending on road conditions.
The Hilux diesel hybrid will go on sale in Europe in mid-2024. The price has not been announced, but most likely it will be more expensive than the regular diesel version.
