A new Tesla station will open in California
Tesla plans to build a huge new Supercharger station that will have enough space and power to simultaneously charge more than 160 electric vehicles.
A massive electric vehicle charging station will be built in Kern County, California, according to a building permit application. Currently, the largest station in the world is the Harris Ranch complex in Coalinga, California, with 98 charging spots. But with 164 spaces, the new facility will be almost twice as large, catering for the growing number of electric vehicles on the road – both Tesla and other brands.
Tesla will build 16 draw bays that will make it easier to charge cars towing a trailer. In addition, solar canopies will be installed in each parking lot, which will presumably supply electricity to several stationary batteries, making the process of refueling an electric vehicle as environmentally friendly as possible. This will also help reduce charging costs by reducing the consumption of power drawn from the grid.
The new charging station is expected to open next year.
It is worth adding that the world's largest electric vehicle charging station, with 637 places, is located in Shenzhen, China.
