The problem will be solved with a software update

Tesla has launched a recall program for 125,227 vehicles due to problems with the seat belt warning system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in some cases the indicator and horn may not activate when the driver is not wearing a seat belt.

This malfunction violates federal safety requirements and may increase the risk of personal injury. The problem is observed in Model S 2012–2024, Model X 2015–2024, Model 3 2017–2023 and Model Y 2020–2023.

Tesla will reconfigure the sensors by releasing an over-the-air update. Distribution of the update should begin in June.
