Since 2018, more than 200 thousand pets have been transported unaccompanied
Company «Russian Railways» has launched a useful update for pet owners. On the Russian Railways website you can now arrange for the transportation of an animal without the owner’s accompaniment, without the need to go to specialized baggage offices.
The procedure is quite simple:
- Set the starting and ending points of the route
- Select from the list a train card with the service «Transportation of animals without an accompanying person»
- Click on service
- Fill out an application for transportation in your personal account, indicating data about the animal and information about its care, full name and telephone number of the sender and recipient
- Book and pay for the service
- The application and receipt will be displayed in the user’s personal account in the «My orders» section.
- Documents must be printed and presented to the conductor of the carriage in which the pet will travel.
As reported by Russian Railways, from January to April 2024, more than 24 thousand animals were transported by long-distance trains unaccompanied by their owners, which is 34% more than in 2023. In total since the launch of the service in 2018, more than 200 thousand pets were transported unaccompanied.
