The recently unveiled Xiaomi SU7 has attracted a lot of attention because it is not produced by a famous car company, but by Xiaomi, the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

It's been roughly three years since Xiaomi first announced its plans to enter the electric vehicle market, and the company believes it can become one of the top five largest automakers in the world within the next 15-20 years.

Xiaomi equipped the SU7 with advanced electronics and as part of the advertising campaign, released a video showing how the car parks itself in a multi-level garage somewhere in China.

The video shows the SU7 driver pulling up to a garage entrance, then pressing a button on the infotainment screen and exiting. The car then drives into the garage and drives itself through the different levels. At one stage he comes face to face with an Audi A7, but turns around to give way to the Audi and continues on to the top level of the car park. He then finds a suitable parking space and reverses into it.

It is not yet known whether the Xiaomi SU7 moved through the parking complex without first mapping the area and relying solely on its sensors — if so, that's an impressive result.

Xiaomi has equipped the SU7 with lidar, cameras and radar and confirmed that it will launch with auto highway driving and auto parking features. The software will then be updated to include autonomous driving on city streets.

Previously, a Xiaomi representative said that the information published on the Internet regarding the production chain of the company's first car is full of inaccuracies and misleads the public and investors.
