Chinese automaker Chery is preparing to present an updated version of its popular crossover Tiggo 8. According to data from the catalog of the Ministry of Industry of the People's Republic of China, the car has undergone significant changes in appearance, but has retained the usual technical filling.
Chery designers decided to refresh the look of Tiggo 8, taking as a basis the style of the brand’s older models. The crossover received a completely redesigned front end with a new radiator grille, generously decorated with chrome elements. The rear optics became transparent, and a nameplate with the model name appeared on the tailgate. At the same time, the car lost the decorative trims on the front wings, which gave its appearance a more austere and laconic look.
The crossover length is 4722 mm, width — 1860 mm, height — 1745 mm. The wheelbase is still 2710 mm. The car will be available in 5- and 7-seater versions, and its curb weight will be from 1488 to 1521 kg, depending on the version.
Under the hood of the updated Tiggo 8 there will be a familiar 1.5-liter turbocharged SQRE4T15C engine with 156 hp. and a torque of 230 N·m. The maximum speed of the crossover will be 180 km/h. The power unit will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. or 6-band «robot» with two «wet» clutches.
Buyers will be able to choose one of three options for wheels with a diameter of 17, 18 or 19 inches. But there is no information about the interior design yet — there are no photographs of the interior in the ministry’s catalogue.
