February is the first full month of sales of Galaxy S24
smartphones
In February of this year, Samsung took first place in the world in smartphone sales — ahead of Apple for the first time in five months. According to Counterpoint and Hana Securities, Samsung sold 19.69 million smartphone units in February and secured 20% of the market, while Apple sold 17.41 million smartphones (the US company's share was 18%). Let us remember that February was the first full month of sales of Galaxy S24 devices with Galaxy AI functions.
In February, Samsung sold 6.53 million Galaxy S24 smartphones. Galaxy AI-enabled devices allowed Samsung to increase its sales share in the US to 36%, up 16 percentage points from January 2024. Apple's share, on the contrary, fell from 64% to 48%. At the end of February, more than half of Samsung smartphone sales in the US — 52% — accounted for devices of the Galaxy S24 line.
Samsung's foldable flagships are still selling well. From September 2023 to February 2024, 7.39 million devices were sold (4.76 million Galaxy Z Flip5 and 2.63 Galaxy Z Fold5) — and this is slightly more than the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 smartphones were sold during the same period (7.35 million units).
