Russia has caught up with Cuba in the number of Tu-204 passenger aircraft. Next up is North Korea?

Score Russia – Cuba 1 : 1

Until recently, the fleets of Russian airlines included only Tu-204 aircraft in cargo or corporate versions, but now the first passenger version has appeared: IFC transferred the 16-year-old Tu-204-100B to Red Wings after restoration of airworthiness. And now, in terms of the number of passenger Tu-204s, Russia has reached the same level as Cuba — Cubana De Aviacion airline operates one such aircraft.

If the domestic airline gets another passenger Tu-204, then Russia will overtake North Korea in the number of these aircraft: Air Koryo has two passenger Tu-204s at its disposal.

The newest domestic aircraft MS-21 and SJ-100 will take to the skies at best in 2025 (and most likely even in 2026), so the restoration of old Tu-204/Tu-214 and the purchase of airliners Airbus and Boeing from foreign lessors — the only opportunity to replenish the fleet at the moment.
