Cars can be produced by AGR
«Russian newspaper» writes that Hyundai and Kia will return to Russia under the leadership of Alexey Kalitsev, who, as it became known the day before, was appointed general director of the company «AGR» (formerly — «Volkswagen group rus»).
From 2010 to the beginning of the current period, Alexey Kalitsev held high positions at Hyundai Motor CIS, where he led the strategic development of the Hyundai and Genesis brands in Russia. Since 2017, he also held the position of Managing Director at Hyundai Motor CIS.
The connection with AGR and Hyundai and Kia becomes clear if you look at the events of spring 2023. Then Volkswagen transferred its assets to a Russian investor, represented by Art Finance LLC. This company, starting January 23, is headed by Kalitsev.
Although there is no official confirmation yet, various sources claim that the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, like Volkswagen, was acquired by the AGR Automotive group. Thus, according to the assumptions of «Avtovzglyad», Kalitsev can head the Hyundai Motor Group business in Russia.
Perhaps the Koreans, in order to ensure sanctions security, will decide not to continue working under the familiar name, well known in the world. For this purpose, well-known models can be sold under the Solaris brand.
