PS5 aims to be the “best place to play” from third-party developers. Sony helps partners

Sean Benson, global director of third-party developer portfolio for PlayStation, confirmed in an interview that Sony is actively collaborating with partners to release interesting games on the Japanese corporation's console that take advantage of the potential of the manufacturer's devices.

The company not only focuses on releasing exclusive games for third-party developers (such as Final Fantasy XVI), but also collaborates to help implement the most interesting features.

When the Stray developers were working on the PlayStation 5 version of the game, it was the PlayStation team who suggested that BlueTwelve employees use adaptive triggers.

“It’s in moments like these that we We can give developers advice that applies exclusively to the console. We don't tell them how to make their game, because they themselves are experts in creating great products. We just give them tips and tricks on how to become the best on PlayStation.”

Sony is committed to working closely with third-party developers to make PlayStation 5 the best place for third-party partners and their games.

Shaun Benson confirmed that many third-party studios want to work with PlayStation, so Sony cannot take all projects under its wing, but has to choose the most interesting ones.

“We only have a few games that we can devote our resources to. But there were so many great games that weren't part of the deal, and we're still doing a lot of cool things together. There are actually a lot of games in our State of Play that we don't necessarily have traditional partnerships with.”
