Microsoft Word has had a spell checking feature for many years

Microsoft has been gradually improving the built-in Notepad application in Windows in recent years, and now it finally has a spell check feature. The innovation is already available for members of the Windows Insider program for the latest test version of Windows 11 in the Dev and Canary channels; you need to update Notepad to version 11.2402.18.0 via the Microsoft Store.

Checking spelling in «Notepad» works the same as in Microsoft Word or the Microsoft Edge browser. Misspelled words are automatically underlined in red, and you can correct errors by right-clicking to view spelling suggestions.

Microsoft even added autocorrect so errors are corrected as the user continues to type. Spell checking in «Notepad» supports multiple languages. It does not need to be activated in the settings, it works by default.
