Absolutely all Mac computers based on Apple Silicon have a serious GoFetch vulnerability that cannot be fixed at the silicon level

No patch yet

Vulnerabilities are found not only in AMD or Intel processors. A new vulnerability called GoFetch was found in Apple M SoCs for its Mac computers.

The vulnerability allows attackers to steal cryptographic information from the CPU cache by allowing the attacker to create a cryptographic key from the stolen data, allowing the application to access sensitive encrypted data.

This vulnerability is very dangerous because it completely neutralizes the side-channel encryption algorithm used to protect against side-channel or processor cache attacks.

In addition, there is no way to fix the vulnerability at the silicon level, which means Apple cannot start producing chips that are free of the vulnerability. However, as in other cases, it is possible to create a software patch, but it is not yet known what share of productivity will have to be paid for this.
