Switch may eventually become the best-selling console of all time
It looks like Nintendo won't be releasing the Switch 2 this year. According to recent reports, Nintendo has informed some game developers that the launch of the new console is being postponed from the end of this year to the beginning of next year.
It is likely that the console will launch in the first quarter of Nintendo's next fiscal year, which will begin in April of the 2025 calendar year.
This data also confirms that Nintendo was indeed going to release the console this year. Unfortunately, the reasons for the change in plans have not been disclosed. But under such conditions, the current Switch console can still surpass the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS and become the best-selling game console in history.
Recall that Switch sales currently total 139 million units. For the current financial year, Nintendo plans to sell 15.5 million. If 6-7 million consoles are sold in the current quarter, and in the next financial year Nintendo is able to sell at least 11 million more, then Switch will top the ranking, and current year sales show that this is quite possible.
