Kaliningrad automaker «Avtotor» is going to start producing its own engines for electric vehicles by the end of this year, said Dmitry Chemakin, vice president of the company. Domestic electric motors will be installed, first of all, on cars «Amberauto A5» produced by «Avtotor», this model was presented about a month ago.
We plan to launch our production of electric motors by the end of this year. That is, in 2025, our engine production will reach technical capacity, this is ready-made localization.

So far, the Kaliningrad electric car has taken the model of the Chinese company JMEV as a basis, but in the future «Amberauto A5» plan to localize. This is where Russian electric motors will come in handy, as well as domestic batteries that will be produced in the Kaliningrad region, Chemakin said.
According to the vice president of «Avtotor», the overall level of localization of production «Amberauto» it is planned to increase to 80% — 85% in 2025 — 2026 The first batch of «Amberauto A5» includes 200 cars, in 2024 the company is able to produce up to 2 thousand electric vehicles, Chemakin said. The company expects that they will be in demand throughout Russia, including for taxis and car sharing.
