From March 30, 2024, most banks in Armenia will stop servicing cards of the Russian payment system «Mir» at their ATMs and POS terminals. This was announced by a representative of the bank «VTB Armenia», which is a subsidiary of the Russian VTB.

The exception will be «VTB Armenia», which will continue to work with «World» cards. in full. Cardholders «World» VTB Group banks and other Russian banks will still be able to withdraw cash from VTB Armenia ATMs, pay for services in online banking and make online purchases if the service supports Mir cards. There are 53 VTB branches in Armenia, including 22 in Yerevan, as well as more than 190 ATMs throughout the country. 

Representatives of the Bank of Russia and the National Payment Card System (NSCP) noted that the decision to accept «Mir» Each country and bank accepts it independently. Payment system «Mir» for its part, does not limit work with foreign partners.

Some banks, such as the Kazakh Bereke Bank (a former subsidiary of Sberbank), have already announced the cessation of work with Mir cards.
