The strike will take place on March 12-13
The UFO trade union announced that flight attendants of Germany's largest airline Lufthansa and its subsidiary Lufthansa Cityline are going on strike.
The strike is planned for March 12-13 and will affect about 19 thousand employees. Flight attendants on flights departing from Frankfurt are expected to go on strike on March 12, and from Munich on March 13, from 04:00 to 23:00 local time.
The UFO statement noted that Lufthansa recently reported a net profit of almost 1.7 billion euros, one of the best results in the company's history. The union says cabin crew should also share in this success and that concessions made during the coronavirus pandemic should be compensated. UFO demands a salary increase of 15% for a contract period of 18 months and an additional inflation compensation of 3,000 euros for each employee.
Earlier, on March 7 and 8, a strike by Lufthansa ground service employees took place in Germany, as a result of which about 2,000 flights were canceled, affecting the plans of approximately 100 thousand passengers. Since the beginning of the year, the strikes have cost Lufthansa approximately 100 million euros.
