The growth in sales of such memory will continue
Against the background of the artificial intelligence boom, not only the demand for corresponding accelerators has increased, but also for HBM memory, since it is used in most such accelerators. It turned out that this led to a significant increase in prices for such memory.
According to research firm Yole Group, average selling prices for HBM chips in early 2024 were five times higher than for conventional DRAM memory chips.
Yole Group forecasts that HBM shipments will grow at a CAGR of 45% between 2023 and 2028. Prices are expected to remain high for some time due to the difficulty of increasing production of such memory.
