Google mentioned the word “AI” 121 times and produced 1.5 “Gemini” per minute during the nearly 2-hour I/O presentation.

On May 14, the Google I/O conference took place – a traditional annual event for developers , where the company presents its new products in the field of web technologies and services.

This time the conference lasted 110 minutes and was entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence – according to the company’s own calculations, the word “AI” was heard 121 times during Google’s keynote speech. CEO Sundar Pichai joked that the company did the “heavy lifting” of counting for us.

Earlier, by the way, the publisher of the Collins dictionary called AI (“AI”) the most outstanding word of 2023.

In fact, most of the presentation was devoted specifically to Gemini (Google's own large language model) and its various iterations (the company implements LLM in almost all of its offerings – Android, Gmail and Search). Interestingly, Google said the word “Gemini” even more often than “AI” – 162 times (and if we take into account “Gem” and “Gems”, then all 170 ) — in fact, the company “produced” 1.5 “Gemini” per minute.

The Android Authority website decided to make fun of Pichai’s statement and did some more interesting calculations:

• The word “Search”/Search was mentioned 87 times (but here, too, it was not without AI).
• Company name “Google” sounded 68 times.
• Android received only 21 mentions (in fact, this is probably the first Google I/O keynote in 10 years where Android played such a minor role).
• The word “Developer” (at a developer conference!) was said 21 times.
• Soon/Coming soon —Google's favorite promise, said 9 times.
• In the coming/Soon and Later this year/Later this year —indeterminate periods that were mentioned 5 times.
• Available today or Available now/Available today or Available now — 5 times.
• The word “Launch”/Launch in all its variations is mentioned 13 times, and Available/Available < /strong>— 18 times.
