Such a total duration of space flights has been achieved for the first time in the world
The press service of Roscosmos reported that today, June 5 at 00:00:20 Moscow time, cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, working on the International Space Station (ISS), for the first time in the world reached 1000 days in the total duration of space flights.
Oleg Kononenko went on his fifth space flight on September 15, 2023. On February 4, 2024, he became the world record holder for the total duration of space flights. Previously, the record belonged to the Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, who spent a total of 878 days 11 hours 29 minutes 48 seconds in space over five flights.
Oleg Kononenko’s annual flight should end on September 23, 2024. It is expected that by this time the total flight time of the Russian cosmonaut will be 1110 days.
