Official photos of the Xiaomi SU7 interior have been published, in addition, a new video has been published showing the winter testing of the car.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in the Xiaomi SU7 is the presence of buttons in the interior. Xiaomi SU7 uses «floating» panel combining head-up display, large central screen, digital panel panel and air outlets.
The center console has four rocker switches and a Start/Stop button. They control temperature, fan power, electric rear wing and air suspension. Xiaomi Auto says it believes that physical buttons — it is the most natural way for humans to interact with machines, and a means of establishing an emotional connection between humans and vehicles. Rocker switches mean they can be operated without looking at them, and the controls are intuitive. However, the need for a button for an electric rear wing seems questionable to some, and even a button for the air suspension will probably only need to be used occasionally.
If you're a button person, you can add a whole row of physical switches below the touchscreen using the dock.
Lei Jun emphasized at the opening ceremony that Xiaomi aims to become the king of winter range and efficiency. A common problem with electric vehicles is that range decreases significantly in cold temperatures. Part of the solution for Xiaomi SU7 is a proprietary heat pump.
In the video, a pair of SU7 sedans are tested in bitter cold -33°C near the city of Heihe in northern China.
