Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden isn't perfect, but it has won the hearts of many gamers and holds up well against many games in the first quarter of 2024. Now its popularity has decreased somewhat, and on Steam servers there are most often several hundred people.
But the developers, judging by the ratings on Steam (85%), can be proud of what they have achieved. They emphasize that this is not a AAA game. In a recent interview with the editors of the MP1ST portal, a representative of DON'T NOD admitted that the project is often mistakenly attributed to the upper segment, but in fact it is a well-made AA:
“Banishers is not a AAA game, it is a beautifully made AA game, and we are proud of it. We have the desire and passion to give our audience a great experience, hence the large map size and huge amount of content. The structure of the game also depends on its nature. Story-driven games like Life is Strange or Tell Me Why need a more linear structure. With Banishers, we felt it necessary to open up the world and allow players to explore the mysteries of New Eden on their own at their own pace and in the order that suits them best. Hence the more open structure of the game.
From the same interview it became known that it took about 4-5 years to create the game from scratch.
