“Semi-finished products” are bodies of the first configuration
Avtoekseprt and host of the telegram channel «Russian car» Sergey Tsyganov shared details about the restart of production at the former Russian Hyundai plant. According to him, there is «Plan A» (more optimistic) and «Plan B» (cautious).
The first plan involves assembling 70 thousand vehicles in one and a half to two years (there are approximately this many vehicle kits left at the enterprise). And after that the plant will either be returned to Hyundai, or… will be sold to someone else. That is, «Art-Finance», which inherited the enterprise, is not particularly interested in establishing a full-fledged assembly of models at the plant with a long-term perspective.
«Plan B» will come into force if the issue with the shortage of electronic units for cars is not resolved (we remind you that the company still has car kits for Creta, Rio and Solaris).
«Therefore, this plan postulates: we will collect as many electronic units as we can get or as many as we can get. And from the leftovers we’ll make… „semi-finished products“. These will probably be first-generation bodies, perhaps even partially including power units and chassis. Where to put them? I don’t know exactly. The obvious assumption about Kazakhstan was thoughtfully countered by my interlocutor: „Not necessarily“», — told by Sergey Tsyganov.
