Some updates to iOS 17.4 are due to the new EU Digital Markets Act. From now on, Apple supports alternative app stores – developers who want to take advantage of this will have to go through an approval process and pay Apple a “core technology fee”, which will charge 50 eurocents per installation when the application reaches 1 million downloads in a year. The process may take some time, but there is currently at least one alternative marketplace from Mobivention known to be available on March 7th.
