They are cheaper than comparable Ryzen 7000 only within the recommended prices
AMD has announced the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F desktop processors for the global market.
New items were previously presented in China, and now beyond its borders. For the younger model they ask for $170, and the older one is priced at $270. It's cheaper than expected.
Thus, it turns out that the Ryzen 5 8400F is cheaper than the Ryzen 5 7600 and costs at the same level as the Ryzen 5 7500F. True, the latter has a slightly higher frequency and more cache memory, and the same Ryzen 5 7600 has an iGPU. Let us remind you that both new products are mobile Ryzen 8000, transferred to the desktop segment, but only with the graphics core disabled.
At its price, the Ryzen 7 8700F competes with the Ryzen 7 7700, but the story is the same: the new product loses in frequency, cache memory and the presence of an iGPU. The bottom line is that the recommended prices for the mentioned Ryzen 7000 are higher than those of the new products. But they have been on the market for a long time and have already become cheaper. Therefore, new CPUs must also come down in price for their purchase to make at least some sense.
However, the Ryzen 7 8700F has an ace up its sleeve. He has the XDNA block saved, that is, the NPU block. Besides it, only the Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G can boast of this. And these are the only desktop processors on the market with an NPU.
