Although very late, Samsung will still reach the level of Sony: Samsung will have its own inch image sensor for top smartphones

Sony already has two such sensors

An insider known on Twitter (X) under the nickname Revegnus spoke about Samsung's new image sensor: according to the informant, its diagonal will be 1 inch. Thus, Samsung will finally be able to catch up with Sony, which already has two inch sensors in its portfolio (IMX989 and LYT900).

Unlike Sony's 50-megapixel sensors, Samsung's sensor will have a resolution of 200 megapixels. It will support 4x zoom (due to the crop) and a phase detection autofocus system.

There's no word on when Samsung's advanced image sensor will premiere and release, but it's clear that the Galaxy S24 won't have it, otherwise the sensor would have already been unveiled.

Let's remember that yesterday Revegnus reported that Samsung will not use its ISOCELL GN3 sensor in the Galaxy S25 – instead there will be a Sony sensor.
