The four-legged fighting game Them's Fightin' Herds has come a long way, starting as an unofficial My Little Pony fangame and then coming into its own with the help of crowdfunding and Early Access.
It looks like the journey is coming to an end. At the beginning of the week, it became known about the release of a patch and some DLC characters, as well as that the update would be the last. This means that the story mode, which is currently in development, will not be completed and the crowdfunding rewards will not be delivered.
“After the completion of the Season 1 Pass, we will stop active development of TFH. We will still be able to release small patches to fix bugs that interfere with the game, but there will be no new content released. Unfortunately, this also applies to Story Mode.”
“Story mode has always been an ambitious feature that we were really excited to implement. We know how eagerly our fans have been waiting for the Story Mode chapters, and we hope you understand how eagerly we've been waiting to release them and work on them.”
“For all outstanding commitments related to our initial Indiegogo crowdfunding, due to this development shift we will have to adjust some of the originally planned bonuses. More information on this will be provided in the coming weeks via email and on our Indiegogo channel.”
Only the first chapter of Them's Fightin' Herds story mode is available in the game.
Them's Fightin' Herds launched on Indiegogo in 2015 and was propelled to success by the involvement of My Litte Pony: Friendship Is Magic creator Lauren Faust as character designer. In 2018, the game was released on Steam Early Access, and in 2020 there was a full release.
