BYD increases production rates
Today, November 24, BYD's six millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) rolled off the assembly line in China. This is the Fang Cheng Bao (Leopard 5) Bao 5 SUV, which entered the market on November 9th. BYD took just three months to produce 1 million new electric vehicles and hybrids, indicating an increase in production volume. The company produces about 11,000 cars per day, 457 cars per hour, about 7.6 cars per minute. It turns out that a new car comes off the assembly line every 8 seconds.
BYD currently has nine passenger vehicle factories across China. These factories are located in Xi'an (Shaanxi Province), Jinan (Shandong Province), Zhengzhou (Henan Province), Changzhou (Jiangsu Province), Xiangyang (Hubei Province), Hefei (Anhui Province), Changsha (Hunan Province), Fuzhou (Jiangxi Province) ) and Shenzhen (Guangdong Province). These factories supply cars to 58 countries, including China. Moreover, BYD plans to build factories in Thailand, Brazil and other countries around the world.
By comparison, since the launch of BYD Fr DM in 2008, it took the company 13 years to produce 1 million new energy vehicles. The second million took 12 months. The third took only 6 months. BYD then added 2 million NEVs produced in 9 months. BYD continues to accelerate, releasing its 6 millionth NEV. It's worth adding that BYD stopped producing ICE-only vehicles in April 2022, focusing solely on NEVs.
