Geely-owned electric vehicle brand Zeekr has introduced its own solid-state traction battery. The creators call it Golden Brick and say that it is the world's first mass-produced lithium iron phosphate traction battery with a volume efficiency of more than 80%.
The volume efficiency of Golden Brick is 83.7% due to the optimized compact «sandwich structure», thin but durable shell. To show how durable the traction battery is, Zeekr even made a video. In it, the battery is heated (there is IPX8 protection), the harness is heated to a temperature of 1000 °C, frozen to -45 °C, rolled over with a 22-ton roller and dropped from a height of 10 meters, but no fire, no smoke, no explosions.
Golden Brick supports ultra-fast charging, charging from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. And this is enough to travel 500 km. At an outside temperature of -10 °C, the charging speed increases by 25%.
The first Zeekr car with Golden Brick will be the Zeekr 007 sedan. According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry, its battery capacity will be 100 kW·h, on a full charge it will be able to travel up to 870 km.
