Zeekr conducted a parking test involving real drivers and the Zeekr 007 automatic parking system. In the tests, the Zeekr automatic parking system won, although the human driver showed the best time.
The test involved installing the Zeekr 007 into a 2060mm wide mechanical parking space – presumably one of the vertical car parking spaces quite common in Asia. The width of the Zeekr 007 itself is 1900 mm.
The accuracy of the automatic parking system was 100% versus 66.7% for human drivers. One common complaint about such systems is that they are too slow. While the human driver's best time was much faster than the system's best time, the average time tells a different story. The fastest time for a human driver was 31.75 seconds, compared to 51.75 seconds for a car. However, the average time for a car was 57.85 seconds, while people were slower — 64.07 seconds. Additionally, the slowest time recorded by a human was 2 minutes 40.57 seconds, compared to 1 minute 13.50 seconds for the Zeekr 007. The car also recorded a time of less than a minute in 15 attempts, while drivers achieved just that 6 times.
Where the car was even more successful was in centering, which was achieved in only 38% of human attempts, but in every attempt by a car.
Zeekr 007 starts shipping in December 2023. The five models in the line range from $29,050 to $41,500.
