For documents that expire in 2024 and 2025
Russian authorities have decided to automatically extend the validity of Russians’ driver’s licenses, which expire in 2024 and 2025, for three years. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated that this decision is aimed at reducing the administrative burden on citizens and businesses.
This innovation applies to both drivers of their cars and those who use transport for work or business. The renewal will be automatic, and citizens will not have to additionally apply for a new driver's license for three years. Those whose licenses would have expired in 2024 and 2025 will only be required to replace them in 2027 and 2028.
This information refuted rumors that the idea of automatic license renewal had been abandoned, and drivers with expired licenses would still have to apply for new ones.
