Toyota Motor, Japan's largest automaker, has resumed operations on all production lines in the country after some were suspended in 2023 due to a scandal involving falsification of diesel engine power data provided by a contractor. .
The last two idle lines were restarted on Monday, March 4th. As a result, all 14 Toyota assembly plants in the country are once again operating at full capacity.
In 2023, Daihatsu (a subsidiary of Toyota ) faced a scandal when it became clear that crash test data was falsified and other violations affecting vehicle safety. More than 170 violations were discovered, affecting many models, including those sold under the Toyota brand.
In response to this, it was decided to suspend deliveries of all Daihatsu vehicles both in Japan and abroad, including models such as Probox, Town Ace, Roomy, Pixis, sold under the Toyota brand.
This scandal also led to the suspension of six production lines within Japan.
