Designer Del Walker, who worked at Naughty Dog, Respawn and Rocksteady Games, decided to suddenly remember how much it pissed him off when the black female characters he created were changed beyond recognition.
“I have repeatedly suggested black women with such appearance, but after 10 iterations the model returned without the slightest hint of original beauty”.
“I'm not talking about minor changes , I'm talking about attitude, aura, style, softness, age. I don’t want to give Gamergate supporters something to talk about, but it’s very difficult to promote beautiful black women in games without them later turning into grocery store chicks.”.
In 2023, a special episode of The Blessing Show was released on the Kinda Funny Games channel, in which Walker was actively outraged by the fact that developers never pay enough attention to the hairstyles of black people, forgetting not only about texture, but also believing that black people wear only afro.
