Rocket 1600 and 7600

HighPoint introduced the first RAID AIC adapters on the market with PCIe 5.0 support. They allow you to install multiple SSDs and connect them to a single PCIe slot.

New items belong to the NVMe Switch & RAID AIC/Adapter. The Rocket 7600 model is designed for edge servers based on Linux and Windows, as well as high-performance workstations, while the Rocket 1600 adapters are intended for the enterprise segment. Both new products are based on the Broadcom PCIe PEX89048 adapter.

New items allow you to install eight drives, only the Rocket 7600 model supports M.2 2242, 2260, 2280, and the Rocket 1600 allows you to install SSDs in U.2/U.3, E3.S format. In this case, it is possible to use a special backplane to connect up to 32 SSDs with a total capacity of up to 960 TB to one slot.

The Rocket 7600 model requires additional power, but the Rocket 1600 — No. Moreover, the first has a larger radiator with a fan, while the second has only a small radiator. Considering how hot SSDs with PCIe 5.0 heat up, it’s not a fact that even the first option will be enough for eight.

For Rocket 7600 they are asking $2000, and Rocket 1600 will cost $1500.
