The former game director of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 will try to avoid CDPR mistakes in the new studio

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz spoke about his dreams in the new studio Rebel Wolves and how he uses the lessons of working at CD Projekt Red.

In a conversation with Bloomberg, the studio founder explained that the studio will not grow to the scale of The Witcher and Cyberpunk. First of all, he believes that the more hands are put into a project, the more it gets lost, which is what happened with Cyberpunk 2077.

“When you work in a company like ours, you have not 20, but 5 colleagues. You have to do more, but at the same time you have a greater impact on the game.”

Tomaszkiewicz began his career as a game developer at CDPR almost 20 years ago. While he admits that working with a smaller team is “completely different” from his previous studio, he sees it as a welcome upgrade, saying he “misses interacting with the rest of the team on a daily basis.”

He noted that Rebel Wolves has a “team first” policy, where “we think about what we can do to keep the team motivated and happy.”

For Tomaszkiewicz, this policy is an opportunity to atone for past behavior. When he left CDPR in 2021, he was accused of bullying employees, which he denied, saying he would work on himself to ensure it didn't happen again.

According to him he said working with a much smaller team helped him improve his demeanor and “show more empathy.” , who supported Conrad during the accusations.
