A new car developed by Huawei and Chery was officially launched today. The Luxeed S7 electric sedan is offered in China starting at $35,200 and has very low energy consumption of 12.4 kWh per 100 km. Thanks to its 800V architecture, it can replenish its range by 430 km in 15 minutes. It is equipped with Huawei's ADS 2.0 self-driving package, which also supports self-parking function.
Luxeed S7 is built on the Chery E0X platform, which underlies the Exeed Exeed Exlantix ES and Exeed Exlantix ET. This is a full-size sedan with dimensions of 4971 × 1963 × 1474 mm and a wheelbase of 2950 mm. It is equipped with air suspension and a variety of sensors, including one lidar, three millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and 11 high-resolution cameras, all of which provide data to the Huawei ADS 2.0 system.
The S7 has excellent aerodynamics: a drag coefficient of 0.203 Cd, which surpasses even the Tesla Model S. The maximum range is 855 km on the CLTC cycle. Top-end configuration with two engines with a total power of 496 hp. can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. The braking distance at a speed of 100 km/h is 33.5 meters.
The S7 is the first model developed under Huawei's Smart Choice scheme, where the Chinese phone maker acts as a supplier and seller. Luxeed EVs will be offered at Huawei flagship stores across China along with Aito.
The S7 has a lot of Huawei technologies built into it, including hardware and software. In terms of hardware, the DriveOne transmission integrates an engine control unit (MCU), motor and gearbox. In terms of software, there is an autonomous driving system and HarmonyOS 4.
During the presentation, Huawei also said that NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist) will be available across China by the end of the year. NCA is a driving software similar to Tesla FSD, available as part of Huawei's advanced ADS package.
Huawei also announced that it plans to build more than 100,000 600 kW Huawei charging stations in China in 2024.
